ferry albania to italy

Hi - I%26#39;m planning on taking the ferry from Vlore to Brindisi on 22/23 August. Does anyone have experience of doing this? Do I need to book in advance? Which company is better (a notice a couple do this route)? I%26#39;m just on foot, no car.
