Driving from Greece to Croatia

We are planning a drive from Athens to Dubrovnic. Has anyone done that drive?What are the road conditions? What are the highlights to see enroute? I would appreciate any feedback, Thankyou

well is not the best idea..the roads are not good at albania side...and maybe in the north part of the country the safety is not at the best...although albania is a country that can suprise you with its beautifull nature ,the welcoming people and the low prices..but for the only part you can drive propertly is the greek side....but if you are a discover type traveeller and you want real adventure make it....just dont use an expensive car; )

I just did this trip: Venezia to Saranda ( via Split Montenegro Tirana Vlora) by car alone with 3 children... no problems... Albania is a beatiful country just in some part you have to take care because the roads have some holes and there are narrow, but nothing dramatic ( I have a suv ) the people is very nice expecially in south part. Go to Berat is very nice city and ( if you play bridge go the bridge association in Tirana there are a lot of very kind people albanian and from every part of the world )

The roads in albania have changed a lot lately especially between major cities.

Most roads are 1 lane each side but approaching cities they get to two lines each and sometimes 4 lines each side.

If you go away from cities do expect a bumpy ride.

I do not undertand what Gas refers to %26quot;adventure%26quot; , albania is not Manaus in the middle of a tropical jungle. Gas please don%26#39;t comment about a land you%26#39;ve never visited.

While u%26#39;re in Dubrovnik i also recommend visiting Trogir,it is in my opinion more beautiful than Dubrovnik.

We are driving from Greece to Croatia-Zagreb. I would like to know which is the best route. Through Albania or through FYROM, Serbia etc. Which is the shortest route and the safest.

We are driving from Athens-Greece to Zagreb-Croatia, next week. I would like to know which is the fastest and safest route. Through Albania or through Fyrom, Serbia etc.?? How dangerous is it? And our major concern is if we will have problems with clean gas along the way.

Thanks everyone for your feedback, we have changed our travel plans as we couldn%26#39;t get a car rental company to rent to us %26amp; allow travel through Albania and into Greece. We are now driving from Venice to Croatia %26amp; then on return to Venice we will fly to Athens.
