Albanian Currecy

What have people done when travelling to Albania with regards to currency as i can%26#39;t find anywhere that will convert pounds into leks.

If I have to convert them out there, what is better to take Pounds or Euro%26#39;s?

Hi, I can%26#39;t say for pounds but when I travel from the US I find I get a better exchange rate when exchanging US dollars to Leke. When I have taken EURO - it%26#39;s not been as good. I also found that going straight to Leke from US dollar was better than changing US dollar to Euro while in Albania.

Just take euros with you and change them in the street

It is also possibile to whithdraw euros ( with your visa of mastercard or regular banccard) directly from cashing machines. Go for Prokredit Bank or Raiffeissen Bank, the have cashing machines in all major cities.

The money you withdraw from them machines you can change for Lekë in the streets. Usually you find these guys in the centre near the banks! Easy
