One Day Visit to Sarande

We will be on a cruise that has Sarande as a half day stop. We will be arriving in the middle of October. I would like some suggestions on how to best use our time. Is the dock close to the town? Would we be able to walk to the town and get around easily. What is their currency? Do they accept euros? Is there a special local food that we should try?

Thank you for your help.

Hi Kathy!

The dock is in the town which is not very big anyway! You will be able to walk around and visit, but if interested in history and if you want to visit Butrint you will have to get a cab or a bus. It is actually worth if history and nature are part of your interests. If most interested in people and urban areas then stay in Saranda but pick a cab anyway for a coffee break in the Lekuresi Castle. It shouldn%26#39;t be more than 10 euros both ways (that%26#39;s even too much probably). The place is nice and the view stunning!

They will get euros everywhere. The exchange rate in this moment is 1 - 130Albanian Lek. Try a Tave dheu or a Tave Kosi. Otherwise definitely try the Butrint Lake Mussels. They%26#39;re delicious in May and June specially. Have a great halfdaytrip.
