Hey CheckersManchester,

Depending where you go but the prices are very good in most restaurants. you can eat well for about 1000 - 1500 Lek per person which is about 10-13 Euros and beer is around 1,5 euros in those restaurants. if you stay in Tirana in the block area you should try Era restaurant, Taiwan pizzeria and you get itemized bill so they will not rip you off. Normally in the restaurants they don%26#39;t do that, at least this is my experience.

in the night clubs and bars the prices of drink are higher also depending where you go. you might pay 3-4 euros for a beer.

change the money in Lek in Taiwan exchange shop (maybe someone else has better idea, but this is where I change my money) and enjoy Albania. you will love it.

let me know if you need any other advice

Avoid the Rogner, Sheraton, and Tirana International Hotels and you should be OK. The Piazza restaurant is also pricey. None of the bars itentionally rip off foreigners. There are pretentious places that think their decor justifies charging 5 euros for a drink, but they do it to everyone. If you just want cheap beer and good grilled meat, hit Tymi across the street from the Euro Max. Or Mr. Chicken nearby. For good fish, Divjaka Fish or Ocean Blue are good bets. There%26#39;s also a crappy no-name bar in the soccer stadium across from the Sheraton next to %26quot;Let%26#39;s Dance%26quot;. They have Tirana beer for 130 Lek (less than one pound). The waitress Valbona is nice and speaks some English.

Bottom line is it can be as cheap or as pricey as you want to make it. Watch where the locals go and follow them.
