Hi there wonder if someone can help.
We are trying to find an easier way of getting to the north of Albania from Lake Ohrid avoiding Tirana.
We see from the map that there is a road from Debar in Macedonia and going across via Burrel.
Can anyone help?

An easier way there is not . Allow me to ask why you wish to avoid Tirana? However if you wish to avoid it you could travel Elbasan Durresi and north . This is without a doubt the best road and fastest way . Much more so than anything going through Burrel,Kukes or Bajram Curri. Nimrod

Thank you so much for your reply - thought it looked too easy!!
We normally go the route that you suggested but they are still doing the roads around Durres and it%26#39;s a nightmare!!
The only reason we avoid Tirana is because we thought the road was bad and also I wasn%26#39;t sure if there was a ringroad around Tirana or if you had to go through the centre.
Many thanks

The road from Rrogozhine to Durres was all but done as I recall when we drove it on the 10th of June. The road from Elbasan to Tirana is OK and great scenery . It climbs up to the ridge line above Elbasan and goes along it with beautiful valleys dropping off on both sides. Worth doing once . Tirana doesn%26#39;t have a ring road though I saw (too late for us ) that from the north side there was a sign to Elbasan that obviously allowed one to miss the very center. Nimrod

Yes, that%26#39;s the way we go - it%26#39;s just Durres and around there which is bad although I%26#39;m sure it won%26#39;t be long until they have done it!!
We were on that road 13 June!!
Is it really difficult getting through Tirana - is it well signposted?
Thanks again
