Tirana

We spent 3 full days in Albania and had a good time.

Two adults and an 8 year old.

We visited Tirana, Kruja and Durres by bus.

People were always friendly to us and the food was very good.

Locals are always happy to see foreigners actually coming to their

country for a vacation. Lots of USA flags up everywhere since

the Bush visit.

MURILLO - Los Angeles CA

We ran into other Californias on our visit there.

Thank you for responding, we find so little about Albania Tourism in our usual places to look. Do you have any reccomendations regarding accomodations?

We stayed at the Sheraton in Tirana. It is supposedly the only five-star in the city and it was a very nice hotel with friendly staff.

Hello,

I believe you are arriving here by plane so you will lend near Tirana.

Day one, Tirana, you could stay in Sharaton but you could also have a nice, cheaper, smaller hotels, it is up to you.

Day 2, visit Kruja, taxi is not too expensive, the price should be arranged in advance. Kruja is a very nice small town, with a very nice old market and few historical monuments. Back to Tirana or Durres.

Day 3, going to Durres for a lunch in a nice Piazza restaurant for fish. Coninue trip to Berat. Berat is a beautiful city with a nice fortress. Sleap in Berat in a small hotel Mangalemi, a bit run down very cheap and cold but very good food.

Day 4, go to Gjirokaster, beautiful town close to the Greek border. You could stay in Kalemi hotel, very rustic and clean but cold and no generator during the power cuts.

Day 5, go to Saranda, it is only one hour and half from Gjirokaster. Visit Butrinti, half hour away. While in Saranda stay in a very nice five star hotel Butrinti. Eat good fish in a reastorant called Agimi.

Day 6, go back to Tirana.

I am sure you will have a great time, the country is very beautiful and very nice and hospitable people and they love Amerikans.

Should you need any other information please let me know.

You can definitly find more information on the website of Albania-holidays.com. This agency has experience in organising trips for the period of your choice, as well according to your budget.

Myself, Iam working here in Tirana for quiet some time, and I can recommend strongly to come over and visit this country. It is beautifull, the hospitality of the people, the food, landscapes, still unspoiled, however the progress is made in comparison with a few years ago.

An other advise I can give is when you are planning to stay for some time in Tirana, to rent an appartment, you have all facilites,2 bed-and bathroom for only 40€/night. Plan your stay in Blocku arrea so all the cosy and cheap restaurants are nearby.

You will enjoy your stay, for sure !!
