Sheraton Hotel, Tirana

Staying here on an upcoming tour. Looking for local inexpensive to moderately priced restaurants frequented by locals, not a tourist trap, within walking distance or a SHORT cab ride. Suggestions would be appreciated. Any other tips on things to see??

The Stephen Centre is where my friend stayed-basic but very clean and in the very centre (not too close to Sheraton, though). The other close place is President Hotel or Iliria Hotel (both very nice, homey, moderately priced)(try to google them, as I don%26#39;t have their contacts.)

As for things to do, I would make sure to take the cable car to Mount Dajti-very spectacular! There are several concerts and shows, many very good, either for free or peanuts (it cost me 5 USD to see %26quot;The Barber of Sivillia%26quot;!)

Enjoy!

Thank you GerdaS for the information

I am looking for restaurants. You mentioned The Stephen Centre,President Hotel or Iliria Hotel. Are there restaurants in the hotels you recommended.

Hello elbw52,

u r right-I didn%26#39;t read your post carefully. As for restaurants near by, I prefer chocolat, and ambassador-very interesting vegetarian, and french cuisine. Juvenilia has a great location and literally 50 m away from sheraton...

Thanks, the vegetarian sounds interesting.

I think Juvenilia is good, also Princ Park is great dring the summer time, try bruscheta. In the block area there is one that you should not miss %26quot;Era%26quot; great Albanian food and cold Tirana bear. You will not regret.

Hope you have a fun here in Tirana

Walk out the front door, turn in any direction, and you will be falling over restaurants before you have gone more than 500 meters. Go one block west of the main boulevard into the Blloku area and there are hundreds of places. La Tavernetta, Villa Ferdinandho, King House, Carlsberg, Serendipity, Primavera, %26quot;Kolonat%26quot;, Dafni (spelled with a triangle, not a D), Yamato (sushi), Ocean Blue.... OK, you get the idea. Lots of places to eat within walking distance of the Sheraton.

As for sights, walk straight down the main boulevard, over the river, into Skanderbeg Square, and around the square. You%26#39;ll see museums, statues, beggars, parks, terrible traffic, great ice cream stands, and lots of folk out for the evening stroll.
