Albania urgent query

Hallo

A friend of mine is being posted to Albania to work (next week) and has only just found out the destination.

Bulquize. I can%26#39;t find it on any map. The only thing I have been able to find out is that it used to be called Kurtaj, but I can%26#39;t find that on any map either.

She%26#39;s flying into Tirana - is Bulquize/Kurtaj reasonably close by?

Many thanks. Hope someone answers today, Friday!

Hey there, sorry it is Saturday. Bulquize is a small place near Peshkopia. Some 5-6 hours drive from Tirana I was told.

What is she going to do there??????? Good luck,

!

Hallo, thanks for replying.

Oh dear. Bulqize (I%26#39;ve got the right spelling now) is indeed 132km by road from Tirana. That would be because of the mountains inbetween.

I%26#39;m now wondering where she%26#39;ll be staying.

What does she do? She%26#39;s an engineer.

Please write again with any ideas about where they put people up who are staying in that area.

Many thanks -

Hello again, I hope the company will provide the apartment for her but if not I think it will not be too hard to find an accommodation. Unfortunately I have never been there so I cannot tell you exactly what to expect but Albanians are very hospitable people in general.

I myself am a foreigner and live here for over a year although in Tirana, this is a beautiful country and I would suggest that you buy a Bratd guide on Albania by Julianne Gloyer, it gives you a lot of good suggestions.

Sorry I cannot be more helpful.

Oh gosh, not the best place in albania. Bulqize is a small town where they extract minerals (chrome). Few Albanians have been there. good thing is it%26#39;s high in the mountains so it%26#39;s good in summer altitude 1100m .
