I have been reading various topics in this forum in preparation for a trip to Albania in the middle of August. I plan to visit a couple of mountain regions including lake koman but mostly I would like to visit the coastal areas of the country. I am becoming increasingly alarmed to hear that the beaches are so crowded during Augst and July. One of the reasons I am leaving Greece is to find somewhere quiet as most places here are impossible during August.
Ideally I would like to find a quiet place with a nice beach close to it and stay in a small pension (or rented room perhaps?) for a week and spend perhaps another week exploring Albania.
Do you people think this is possible? Any quiet areas that you know even if out of the way and not so easy to get to?

Hey, I think if you go south somewhere from Vlora to Saranda you can find a quite spot and beautiful beaches. I think that this reffered to the beaches in Durres and arround.
Mountains are great and I am sure you will have great holiday in Albania.
Best,

The northern beaches are extremely crowded, but check out Dhermi and some others. They are really nice and there aren%26#39;t a lot of people.
