Korca to Prespa lake villages

We left our hotel in Korca for the wonderful lake Prespa villages.

We tok a furgon to the intersection to the Lake.At the intersection there was a taxi that drove uss to teh fisrst of the 5 vilages ,the village of Ligenes, but Ligenes di not have a hotel, the next one a very small one, probably 20 houses di have a hotel.

Hotel Aleksander in the village of Zaroshka. There, there exactelly there we had one of my best experiences that i will never forget..the place is magical, the people working in the fields, the cows and the goats. The hotel was a small new house %26quot;in the middle of the field%26quot; with three dormotaries,on the second floor. Tne balkonies did not have the fence, you could just sit with your leggs hanging from the edge an eating from the plumm tre infornt of you!!The view to the lake, ooohh yes that view, its in my brain and it will be there for ever.

The food that we got at the hotels restaurant was just amazing!!! we eat the local fish,(from the carpe family)endemic to that part of the lake Prespa. The local dish that people from all over Albania comes to the village just to eat it,they call it TAVE.Did I mention that the restaurat is not ihn the hotel?this is another nice part, the restaurant its located about 500 meter from the hotel, crossing the village and fields, then youll see the restaurant!!!wonderfull....

We payed to to young boys to drive us around the other 4 villages-the road its under construction- the journey started from our hotel to the other villages, of course they knew everybody in every village, and they could tell some nice stories from there too.We recomended if you are travelling with acar, to rent a 4x4 in general for the roads in Albania.

we also rented the services from a local boy to take us in his row boat to a small island in the lake,we visited an abandoned Greek monastery and bade in the nice an clear waters of the lake.

Zaroshka did surprise me to a point that I ca not find words, and I have traveled a lot, I used to be a tour leader for 15 years, and you get use to see the same things the same food with diffrent names and so on..but in Albania and the Villages in Lake Perspa...never seing like it.

The price fro staying there was 15€ per room per night, with breakfast.

We are planning to visit Albania . I wondered how you got around. We had thought to rent a car in Dubrovnik ,Croatia and travel through Montenegro. Do you have any advice. How bad are the roads for driving? What made you go specifically to Lake Perspa? we had thought to go to Lake Ohrid. You post in October is that the month you were in Albabia? I thank you in advance for any information you might be able to offer.

Hi, the best for you is to rent a car somewhere else or in tirana. there are not other car rentals in Albania. Please rent a 4x4, the roads in Albania are under construction.

Why did I choose The lake Prespa?,well, I like fish, and I wantet to swim in the lake.I also like small places insted of big cities,I like simplicity towards fancy or well establish european style.

The Prespa Lakes 5 villages are a jewll...do not miss them, if you can.

if you want to go to the lakes , do get advise at Gulliver Ok(a trafvel agency) in Korca. If you do not have the time to go to Korca, find the village of Zaroshka and the hotell ALEKSANDER,theyll treat you good...their english is about 0,unlessyou speak, greek or albanian or macedonian..
