Can anybody recommend places to stay in Tirana?
Ideally I%26#39;d like to stay in a small Bed %26amp; Breakfast or family-run hotel much like what one finds in Berat or Gjirokaster, but most of the hotels that come up in searches are large or medium-size modern hotels.
Thanks,
BB.

Hi BB
We enjoyed the Mondial Hotel 2 years ago. They have a nice breakfast buffet and also a good dinner in the evenings. At the time we were there you could use the internet in the lobby. We used a tour guide for our entire trip in Albania but we arranged the MOndial via internet. They were very nice and eager to assist. Let me know if you need more help? We liked both Berat and Gjirokaster. We did not care for the hotel in Gjiro as it was out of the city and cold. The power used to go off in the cities so not sure if that still happens. Mondial has there own generator. Gjiro Hotel did not have a generator. We only visited Berat and did not stay. We also went to Corfu and stayed in Seranda(sp) for the boat
There is a very great restaurant in Tirana....but I cannot tell you the name.We really don%26#39;t know. Our tour person treated us for dinner there and it was fabulous. Rustic and food was great.
Have fun.

My son was in Albania last week and stayed at Freddy%26#39;s Hostel in Tirana. He said it was clean, very nice, and very inexpensive.
