Tirana - Sarande/Gjirokaster - Athens ?

Hi,

After Tirana I would like to go to Sarande and Gjirokaster and then to take a bus to Athens. I haven%26#39;t decided where to go first - Sarande or Gjirokaster as I was wondering from which place it would be easier (and cheaper) later to take the bus to Athens? And does anyone knows the bus shedule from Sarande or Gjirokaster to Athens and price and also, is it easy to get tickets at this time (August)? And one more question, does furgons/buses run often between Sarande and Gjirokaster? Many thanks!

Hello, Probably you are going to better off going first

to Saranda although it really depends on where you want to enter Greece. The main route which has I believe better connections to Athens is through Kakavija which is more or less equal distance from both cities. If by chance you prefer entering through the coast road start with Girokastra then go to Saranda. There will be no problem getting a furgon (I think you will find them faster and as ,if not more comfortable ,) than the buses from Tirana to either destination. There are also furgons between the two cities , more in the morning early afternoon. If you want to travel towards the evening I suggest checking first. I simply don%26#39;t know about direct buses between Albania and Greece other than the fact that there are .

In any case if you go to Kakavija by Albanian transport there will be on going on the Greek side through the late afternoon.
