loved it so much i am going back!

i visited albania in june for a week and had a great time, so i am going back in september but i will be travelling on my own this time without the boyfriend.

i felt very safe the last time i was there, more so than anywhere else i visited but its a little different when you are on your own. any girls out there travelled in albania alone and what were your experiences?

did you go in September - how was it - I am going in December on my own so wondered what your experience was

it was great, i love Albania, i also visited Corfu and Macedonia, corfu was a little boring for my taste but a nice place, Macedonia was great, very pretty around Lake Ohrid.

i had forgotten how different it is when travelling alone, the things that you take for granted when you have a companion (taking a taxi) is something you have to think about when you are on your own, such as is it a legitimate taxi?

i will say though that i felt very safe in Albania, never any problems. Albanian people will go out of their way to help you and they are very hospitable.

if you need any more info i will help if i can, have a great time.

Hi, i am organising a trip to albania to visit my boyfriend and will be travelling by myself.. just wondered if you think its safe and where about in albania you visited? Also where did you fly from and to as i can only find really expensive flights with stops. Thanksss. Sarah.

i travelled to Albania from Ireland last june for the first time, i flew to gatwick and then flew with British Airways from there straight to Tirana, this was the cheapest option for me, when i travelled in september just gone i travelled with Malev hungarian airlines and had a short stop in Budapest.

gatwick service the route direct with british airways and is probably the best option if you dont want any stops.

other options if you want to travel to albania is to fly to italy (ryanair) and then either get a ferry across or fly with belle air, another one is to fly to corfu with Easy jet and get the ferry to sarande.

i found Albania a safe place to travel in, of course take the usual precautions that you would anywhere and be sensible but i never had any hassle when i visited which i could not say for some of our small provincial towns in ireland on a weekend.

have fun
